ISM internships

Building Ministry among International Students and Scholars

You can have a transformational impact on some of the ONE MILLION INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS WHO STUDY IN THE U.S. Many are curious about Christianity and American culture. Let your light shine to the ends of the earth as an ISM intern serving among international students on your campus. First, you’ll attend the ISM Inc. Equipping Conference, May 23-25, 2023.  In August, you will spend a week at an active ISM site, learning how God has been working there. During the fall semester, you’ll develop relationships with international students and scholars, plan events and classes, and help build a program that will continue for years to come. You'll bring fresh ideas, but also help put into action, the plans of those who will continue the ministry after your internship ends.

ISM Inc. equips the intern and the congregation, assists in planning the internship program and provides a monthly stipend of $600 for full time interns or a proportionate amount for part time interns.
Leaders in the congregation or campus ministry provide local guidance, assistance in identifying additional volunteers, and may also provide accommodation and other support.
The intern: uses his or her God-given skills in partnership with other volunteers and church workers.

Meet Grace and hear about her ISM Internship experience in the video below.
Benefits: International students and scholars benefit from American Christians sharing Christ love with them in practical ways. The intern grows in using his or her gifts in God's kingdom under the guidance of both ISM's Ministry Catalyst and their congregational leaders. The congregation or student ministry benefits as the intern invites others into what God is doing among international students and scholars.

An internship may be initiated by either a potential intern or a campus ministry director / pastor at a congregation within a 15 to 20 minute drive of a campus. The intern may be a current university student, a recent graduate or someone taking a gap year or semester. An internship plan is developed with input from the congregation/campus ministry, the intern and ISM Inc.

Interns: Let us know you are interested by
completing an internship application at this link.
The information you provide in the application will be shared with the ISM, Inc. Board of Directors and the internship committee.

Pastors and campus ministry leaders, please contact Sue Hasselbring, ISM's Minstry Catalyst to learn more and start developing an internship plan  sue@isminc.org
