Prayer in Our Ministry of Friendship

Pray regularly for:

  • International students as they adapt to life in the United States, for their schoolwork, peace, security and joy in their everyday life.
  • International students specifically as you meet them and learn their names, asking that their new experiences result in an openness to the Good News of Jesus.
  • The political, social, economic and spiritual conditions in your friend's home country as you learn about them from your friend and the media.  Pray that these developments will afford opportunities for you and others to share Christ's Good News in a special way.
  • The Lutheran churches in your area, that there would be a Spirit-inspired interest in befriending and serving international students and in clearly revealing God's love for all people.
  • That the Holy Spirit will raise up students in your campus ministry or congregation who are willing to become involved in reaching out to internationals.
  • Yourself, that God would constantly challenge you to reach out to international students you meet and to pursue friendships with them.  Ask that He would bless these friendships and that day-to-day activities would not crowd them out.  Pray that the love of Christ and the truth of the Good News will shine through you.
  • God to encourage and to give discipline, time, energy, wisdom and creativity to those people He has called to organize and promote His ministry with international students.
  • The opportunities to share your faith sensitively with your international friends.  Ask that cultural, theological and language differences may be overcome and that the Good News will be made clear.  Pray that these friends from such different backgrounds will come to trust the Savior you know and lov
  • Take time to review your relationships.  Admit to God your weaknesses and where you have failed ask for His forgiveness.  And don't forget to praise Him for your friendships and successes as well!
